Our technologies

Building smarter with the right technologies

At Wood Shapers, we use a curated range of timber, hybrid, metal, and concrete technologies to deliver efficient, low-carbon buildings.

Each system, whether engineered wood, hybrid floors, CREE modules or prefabricated elements, is chosen to optimise performance, precision, and sustainability.

Explore our technologies below and see how they power the next generation of timber and hybrid construction.

Our technologies

Mass Timber

Mass timber uses engineered wood systems like CLT, glulam and LVL to deliver strong, precise, low-carbon structures.

CLT Wood

Cross Laminated Timber technology is used to produce solid, engineered wood panels, made from layers of wood glued together with the grain at a perpendicular angle. The result is a perfectly stable building element that can be used in two directions.

GLT Wood (Glue Laminated Timber)

Glulam technology is used to produce beams made from solid wood segments that have been glued together. This makes it possible to produce longer lengths and strong sections.

LVL Wood

Laminated Veneer Lumber technology is used to produce panels of 3mm rotary-cut glued veneer (obtained by peeling). This material offers higher performance than CLT or GL.

Timber Frame Construction Wood

‘Insulated caisson’ technology for exterior walls with carpentry is used to build partitions and load-bearing walls. It consists of a structure made of solid wood (vertical and horizontal beams) braced with a wood-based panel. The insulation material and joinery can also be fitted in the factory.

Ribbed Floor Wood

‘CLT flooring with GL ribs’ is a structural flooring solution in which a CLT flooring surface (upper or lower part) is reinforced with GL ribs to increase its load-bearing capacity.

CREE

CFE – including Wood Shapers – is the exclusive licence holder for this wood/concrete/steel composite in Belgium.

CREE

This system is based on a lean methodology. The database is always at Wood Shapers’ disposal and we can always count on the support of the engineers at CREE.

Hybrid construction

Hybrid construction combines materials like timber with concrete or steel for better performance.

Ribbed hybrid Floor (wood/concrete)

The Ribbed Hybrid Floor technology is also used for prefab floors that combine the benefits of timber and concrete. In this case the bottom part of the floor is made of GL ribs at regular intervals and a thin concrete slab is laid on top of it.

FSP Wood/concrete hybrids

A Flat Slab Panel is a floor slab made of CLT and concrete. It is often used for prefab floors that combine the benefits of timber and concrete. The bottom part of the floor is made from a CLT panel, with a thin concrete slab (10 to 16 cm) on top of it.

Composite lattice beams (wood/metal)

This lattice beam technology is comprised of two wooden struts (CLT or GL) connected by metallic crossbars with a zig-zag profile. The pipe bends are flattened and the flattened sections are alternately connected to the struts with brackets. The resulting beams can be used for a wide range of structures.
